Brazilian Naval Veterans and Asbestos Exposure
New York Attorney Seeks Brazilian Naval Veterans for Asbestos Claims
The Law offices of Rudolph F.X. Migliore P.C. is asking veterans of the Brazilian Navy to come forward to investigate possible asbestos, lung cancer and mesothelioma claims. Brazilian Navy Veterans have often been exposed to potentially fatal asbestos during their years of service. Many ships were purchased over the past century by Brazil from the United States Navy and contained asbestos.
As in the United States Navy, Brazilian Navy personnel likely came into close, unrestricted contact with asbestos. As they performed their duties every day, they often inhaled dangerous asbestos particles which could end up trapped in the linings of their lungs, leading to severe breathing problems. Specifically, some veterans have developed Lung Cancer or Mesothelioma, a vicious form of Lung- Cancer that is caused solely by asbestos exposure.
The ships that Brazilian veterans may have been exposed to asbestos on include, but are not limited to:
• The Tamandare C-12 (formerly USS St. Louis)
• Barroso C11 (formerly USS Philadelphia)
• Maranhao D33 (formerly USS Shields)
• Para D27 (formerly USS Guest, Albert David)
• Paraiba D28 (USS Bennett, USS Davidson)
• Parana D29 (formerly USS Franks, USS Sample)
• Pernambuco D30 (formerly USS Knapp, USS Bradley)
• Piaui D31 (formerly USS Lewis Hancock)
• Santa Catarina D32 (USS Irwin)
• Mato Grosso D34 (formerly Compton)
• Sergipe D35 (formerly James C Owen)
• Alagaos D36 (formerly USS Buck)
• Rio Grande Do Norte D37 (formerly USS Strong)
• Espirito Santo D38 (formerly USS Lowry)
• Marcilio Diaz D25 (formerly USS Henry)
• Mariz E Barros D26 (USS Brinkley Bass)
• Unitas 52
• Nitaze DDG98
• Ships formerly known as the USS Missouri, USS Boone and the USS Thach
Victims of asbestos who were in the Brazilian navy, and are now in the United States, may be eligible to recover because they were harmed by a defective product made by manufacturers in the United States. These victims should take action as soon as possible in order to preserve their legal rights.
